The boots are waterproof (except for the elastic part on the side) and pretty comfortable. I do not think you would be able to fit inserts in these shoes though. They are not breathable, but most rainboots are like that. Definitely good boots for a few hours, I do not think I could wear them for an entire day because of how hot my feet get in them. For this price, these rainboots are a good deal. I ordered the glossy pair from this company and the reviews said to size up, so I did, but they were too big. I returned the glossy pair and got the matte black because they had my size. They are a little narrow, so I understand why people would say to size up.
