Pain in right leg when bending toes up. I don't know how I was injured, but the pain was in the first metatarsal area. As a worker, I have to insure the lazy, but I'm not insured. The only reasonable solution, regardless of the actual problem, seems to be immobilization. A doctor's bill is out of the question, and these post-op shoes are way cheaper than a no-insurance fine, so I bought them. I wear size 10 shoes and ordered a large size. It's huge. At first I considered returning it but then realized it was big enough to fit over my boot. Seeing winter coming I decided that a boot over a boot might be a good idea. I soon started walking like the short-legged person I was, so I bought different shoes to fit my feet so no one would think I was injured and I had to stop working, which cut into my income. After a short time I realized that the shoes weren't stiff enough and I could still bend my lower leg and injure myself. So I cut out a piece of wood and stuck it between the aftercare and regular shoes. People noticed, but it didn't draw much attention. My shoes are easy to put on and take off without removing the postoperative shoes separately. It's winter and as you can see from the picture my boots have an uneven layer of moisture and salt. My foot may have healed, but post-op shoes are comfortable to wear and help keep shoes dry in the mud. Considering the side effects and cons, I'll probably wear them until spring if I stop wearing them sooner. Verdict: Given the wood inlay that makes them very stiff, this is the best you can imagine. Easy to put on, easy to take off, cheap enough to buy another one to use as an aligner for the other leg and they don't look like a cast. Salt, glue and other work debris aside, they actually look good and go well with my regular shoes.
