Review on Babycakes Donut Maker Mini: Deliciously Effortless Treats in Seconds! by Craig Edwards

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great little donut cooker priced at

I was hoping to get a larger model but at the time it seemed like most places didn't have them so I decided to give this little devil a shot. It was definitely worth it as after the initial heat up of the unit each round of donuts takes around 3-4 minutes to get a nice evenly toasted donut on both sides. In hindsight I probably would have only used 2-3 of these for a lower price if I was so inclined to make large batches. On first heating it smelled quite strongly of any coatings even after thorough cleaning before use. didn't clean it first. After about 15 minutes of operation, however, it burned down what was left of the manufacturing process and had no odor (apart from the extremely pleasant donut flavor that lingers for hours afterwards). When filling the cavities of the donut mold, I simply used a freezer bag with the corner cut off, poured the batter around the mold twice and sealed it with a lid. 3 minutes later: perfection. A simple toothpick worked like a charm to poke the donuts at an angle and pull them out of the unit as there were no utensils or accessories included other than the recipe booklet (which doesn't have half bad recipes like everyone else who needs them) to suit your own taste and your preferences will be adjusted). I've had no problems with donuts sticking, they just pop out. The external part of the device, especially the handles, does not get very hot, which is very pleasant. The only thing that's a bit stingy is the front latch, it's pretty easy to remove completely and I wouldn't be surprised if it breaks at some point.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Style 90
