I bought this iron because my hairdresser used it and my hair started to break. She could stand up in one go. I can't tell what hair type I have. I bet it was what I like to call stylist magic. I can never duplicate at home. However if I straighten from scratch I'll update how it's done. So far so good with retouching. Heats up quickly, digital display is very beautiful. The power and temperature buttons are inside. No more random shutdowns like my old iron. The cooling pad is great and the cable is very long. The plates are longer and the end of the iron doesn't get very hot so you can hold the end tight. If you know exactly what temperature you need this might not be for you as there are only 5 presets. 370, 390, 410, 435, 450. However, as stated by another reviewer, it has a chemical smell after turning it on. I've only used it a few times but the smell hasn't gone away. The smell doesn't transfer to the hair, but it's a little annoying because it seems something is wrong. I can go back and buy from Ulta in the hope that there is no smell in this pack. Will be updated
