I've been using headphones while working remotely in Teams and Zoom for the past year. After my temporary remote job turned into a full-time remote job, I decided to switch to a dedicated microphone so I'm not in my ear 8 hours a day. The Omoton mic seemed like a good alternative to something like the Yeti that all YouTubers use. I'm not one of them - I just want ease of use, setup and good calls. I got everything from Omoton for a fraction of the price of one of those YTer mics. The box contains all parts and instructions for use. The manual does a good job of explaining how to work with it, but doesn't go into setup at all. It is definitely recommended to refer to the photos included in the Revain Product Description Listing to set up the microphone. Scroll down for details, half a dozen product photos are fine, but the ones in the detailed description are more helpful in putting this together. It's easy to make a mistake - the mic still works, but it's best if you set it up right from the start. Two things that can easily be done wrong are on the stock holder. The shaft holder attaches to the tripod post with a ring that fits over the threaded stud on the tripod. The ring mount is flat on one side and curved on the other. Place it flat side down on the bobby pin. This provides maximum microphone angle adjustment. The other part of the holder is a ring with a knurled wheel and a knurled rubber pad on the other side. Make sure the rubber pad is against the top and bottom of the microphone. This will hold the mic in place when tightened. (There's a review about it being "wobbly" and not holding the position - the reviewer probably put the rubber pad on it.) Another thing to watch out for is speaking into the front of the mic , not in the top. . There are several photos of users with their mouths facing the top of the microphone. There is a grille, but the mic inside the device is vertical and your mouth needs to be perpendicular to the front of the mic to work best. This way I have great adjustability to be able to place it at the right height between my monitors. and at right angles. I found I could sit in a normal position at my desk and the mic worked great. I didn't have to take the "close to the mic" position that you so often see in YouTube videos. The sound quality was as good as my headphones and the noise cancellation was even better. I usually have to mute when I'm on the phone and not speaking so I can type and take notes. With Omoton I didn't have to do that. I could set it up so that keyboard clicks are not picked up. That's great, because before that I always started talking and then I realized that nobody could hear me because I turned off the sound. Now I can turn off the sound and not disturb other participants with my input. All in all, this is a great solution to provide a standalone microphone for new regular video conferencing at a great price.
