At first I couldn't figure out how to close it. Then I thought if I close the lid it will be much easier to close. I cut part of the onion with a knife yesterday so it was uneven so cut it as is. It was easy and very convenient. It comes with multiple items to choose from. I'm not sure how people break it or don't work for them. I first read a review that said the veggies had to be completely in the cutter or it wouldn't close completely or you would have a hard time closing it, but that wasn't the case for me. Maybe it will be the same with other vegetables. I am very happy with my new vegetable cutter. I just received it today and already love it.
