I recently changed jobs and my new company laptop is the HP Elitebook 840 G5. I have another dock for this at the office, but decided to test this one out at home to use with my home monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse. This works great for me. The LAN socket works the same as all USBs. I'm writing this review because the answers people have posted have been confusing. Some people have said this doesn't work with the HP Elitebook 840 G5 - I can confirm it so I'm hoping this helps someone with the same model and I was hesitant to buy it. The packaging and power cord are standard, but I expected both with a refurbished unit. The main thing is that the power cord works fine, so I have no problems with it. One more thing - to find my laptop model number I had to get my handy camera zoom app, zoom in and take a picture of some small print on the bottom of my laptop to see the small print and see "Elitebook 840 G5". , which I know is common sense here, but for an old man like me looking through the settings on a laptop, the first thing you need to know is that it's printed in almost microscopic letters on the bottom of the laptop. Hope that helps
