I am 5'8" and many clothing items are just a smidge too short for me. This dress is the perfect length, hitting just below the ankles. I ordered an XL and the bodice fits perfectly with no gaps or snugness. The drape of the skirt is not too puffy at the empire waist which can make me look pregnant when I'm not. I feel like I can dress this up with a nice shrug for dinner on our cruise or wear it to a more casual occasion with bare arms. My only "complaint" is that it says not to tumble dry. I washed it in cold water and draped it over a clothesline at the empire waist and it dried beautifully. I was very surprised that it didn't wrinkle.
