I've been using basic car ashtrays for a long time and can't see them in the dark (the extreme glow-in-the-dark ashtrays never work). I'm a night owl and tend to run errands and drive most of the night. I found this and decided to give it a try. The LED light is perfect, not too bright to create glare but bright enough that I can easily see where the ashtray is. I rarely use the mouthpiece, I usually always have a cigarette in my fingers, I use it only when. I'm reversing or doing a U-turn, which is what I have to do to get to the entrance of a store. I had no problem with my cigarette falling out or sinking into the cup. It fits perfectly in my cup holder (Nissan Rogue). My cup holders are behind the shifter and in front of the center console, so I usually keep my hand close to or on the console unless I need both hands. I'm short and my seat is almost all the way forward and high, so it fits me in that position. I'm not sure if moving forward or anything like that will change whether or not I object to this position.
