Review on πŸš— Reliable Performance: Timken 517008 Tapered Wheel Bearing - Enhance Vehicle Stability and Safety by Mark Taylor

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The set was excellent. about wheel hubs and bearings

My 2006 Forester factory bearing was made by NTN which I couldn't find outside of the dealership or for less than $80. This Timken is actually made by Koyo, who is also a very reputable manufacturer. The set was excellent. I used genuine Subaru oil seals that I bought from the dealer. The original bearing was so worn that it twisted on the hub and destroyed it. If my friend/mechanic didn't have another OEM hub I would need a new one. Additionally, Timken says on their website that their wheel bearings come with grease to prevent corrosion but must be filled with real bearing grease before installation. My mechanic actually called Timken and was told they did NOT need to repack and then personally confirmed that the grease that came with it was real bearing grease.

Pros
  • Good performance, stability and reliability
Cons
  • Frequency
