Great for seniors and visually impaired

Purchased for a visually impaired elderly parent who is transitioning into a nursing home. What was needed was an easy to use device that could be used by a person with very limited vision. This device is as simple and convenient as possible. No fidgety flat screen buttons with tiny notches, no clock to set, just turn the knob (which is very easy to turn) and it works. Easy and safe. I think this would be helpful for the blind (although there are stoves that actually speak for the blind but they are quite expensive). A problem with traditional keyboard controlled ovens is that the timer can be accidentally set incorrectly (60 vs. 6 minutes). I saw it in person and it started a small fire. This is the maximum time you can dial in six minutes, making it much safer to use. I was expecting the rotary knob to be some sort of wrap timer, but it's smooth, effortless control that triggers bright LEDs. When you turn it, the LEDs will flash and visually indicate the countdown. If the door is open, the timer will reset (so it won't work if you close the door after taking out the food). (Note that there is no countdown shown, just a blinking indicator on the watch face). Based on the photos you might expect a cheap pen, but overall the fit and finish seems very high quality. The handle looks like metal and the handle is chrome plated metal and feels very simple but high quality. Being a commercial model, it meets more stringent requirements. Class blocks must withstand a much higher duty cycle (regular blocks are not expected to be used for more than ten minutes a day, while commercial blocks can be used continuously). Door hinges, for example, are more durable. Commercial models don't have a turntable and are stainless steel inside and out for sanitation (to meet NSF standards). The interior and door of this device are made of stainless steel, while the outer casing is made of gray painted steel. The bottom of the cavity is white. Looks like ceramic but not sure. Please note that there is no turntable, but this is not required for most small items. The turntable is another thing that needs to be disassembled and cleaned. We needed a microwave to heat a cup of water for tea or a bowl of soup and one of the small frozen meals. She's perfect for that. is that unlocking the door is a little stiff - it's like a car door handle that you have to squeeze to open, and it took enough force to slide the device onto the counter a bit. I was worried someone with limited grip strength wouldn't be able to open it, but for an elderly person that wasn't a problem (she used both hands). The handle is metal with high quality chrome plating, impossible to break.
