Works great for car security and protection

Believe it or not I bought this in 2018 and it has sat in the box the whole time. My old truck died so I bought a used Honda Pilot and decided it was time to FINALLY install it. The first step was a fairly simple removal of the back panel, cleaning the back of the panel and the surface of the car, removing the 3M film and sticking it to the panel to see where it would sit. After that the fun begins. I drilled a small hole to route the wire through the back door. From there I used a wire hanger to catch it and then fish it out from where the reverse lights were. Connecting the camera cables to power was easy with the supplied clamps. Slip one end over the existing backup light cable, then slip the camera cable over the other end and pinch with pliers. From there I connected the camera, put it in reverse to make sure it worked, and then began the long process of running the wires forward. It took me most of Saturday to get it from the tailgate to the saloon (I traced the existing wiring through the rubber boot) and then up to the top of the headliner, which I lowered. From there I used fish tape to route the wire to the top of the driver's side tailgate. From there, managed to lower the top of the door's inner rubber seal, then pull a line forward and stow everything out of sight. The wireless is of course MUCH easier to install, but with it I don't have a separate line to the PSU as it gets its power from the reversing lamp when it's turned on and I don't have any interference. The presence of a rear view camera is included. An SUV helps a lot in parking lots to make sure nobody is walking behind you when backing up as there are blind spots.

Pros
  • Car electronics
Cons
  • Legacy model
