We have always loved Keens for our children and have had around 3 pairs over the years. In fact, they might be one of my favorites that we've had for a number of reasons. What I love most about these SPECIAL Keens: 1. Ankle Strap: My only complaint with some of our earlier Keen models was that the ankle strap position/function was a bit questionable at times. For example, on one pair they were made of webbing-like material and after a while they bunched up and didn't look very comfortable. On this pair, the strap is very well designed, offset and made of the same material as the shoe, so I can't imagine it ever giving us any problems. Smart! 2. Material: I'm not sure what the material is, but it seems STRONG. I like it more than some of the Keen guys with more "strap". Here's what I love about ALL Keens, including these: 1. Breathable: With summer shoes that are worn barefoot, breathability is key and that's what keeps them going.2. Reliability: You stay and give the child strong support.3. Comfort: They seem very comfortable for my kids.4. Versatility: You can wear them to the beach, get wet and dust them with sand, or you can just rinse them off with a hose and they'll be like new. They can be worn on a bike, on a walk/hike etc. with almost anything you will be doing in the summer. The only thing that makes me think a little about these SPECIAL Keens: 1. Width: If your child has particularly narrow feet, they can appear rather wide. Our child has pretty average feet and they're still a bit wide but they walk great. Overall, especially if you've never tried Keens before, this is a GREAT summer shoe for kids. More durable than flip flops, more water resistant than tennis shoes, more durable than crocs. almost the best choice out there. Try it.
