I really like these shelves in my new apartment. At first I had no idea what I wanted to do with it. I originally bought a set for my bathroom but after looking at more reviews and pictures I decided they would look better in my living room. So I ordered another set and started creating my masterpiece. I love that you can assemble them into one large shelf. I had the brilliant idea of buying two 2x12x12s for up and down rides and four 2x12x3s. While driving home with lumber strapped to my compact SUV wasn't ideal, I'm looking forward to sanding down these little ones and picking out a spot. As for the assembly, I assembled all the parts without paying attention to the orientation. Then once everything is connected, place everything on a rug or rug and twist each connection until everything is nice and tight. Hanging them yourself is hardly easy, but doable. It would be nice to have someone hold them up against the wall while I work. I also took the advice of other reviewers and bought my own anchors and screws. With anchors and 2″ thick shelves, this item is RELIABLE and I love the way it looks. I plan to install a tv in the middle to complete it. Very happy with it.
