initially worked SUPER! And having 8 ports was just what I needed! A month later it just stopped working. It seemed to get stuck in an endless reboot loop and I finally gave up and sent it back. To be fair, it was a refurbished device. Also, there were two subsequent hardware versions of this device, so I can't say if later hardware versions solved this problem. All I can say is that my particular device quickly became irreversibly inoperable. After encountering my own problems with this, I went online and read other reviews. I probably should have done this sooner as I found many references to the same issue I was having and several replacement devices seemed to have the same issues for these reviewers. And yet it received very high marks wherever it was reviewed by professional reviewers, and not a single journal review mentioned a reliability issue. I've always had great success with Cisco/Linksys products in the past, although I realize that Belden bought this line of products after my second to last purchase. I can't say if this had an effect, but in some of the consumer reviews I saw it seemed like this was one of the factors and that this product may have been rushed to market. I considered buying a brand new version (not refurbished, latest hardware version 2.0) and see if the issues were fixed, but they're almost double the price. As a non-gamer, I don't really need all the features of this device other than the convenience of having 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports, so I can't. But now I'm wondering if I can ever trust another Belden/Linksys product again.
