UPDATE: My 20 year old cat has fairly advanced kidney disease and has started to urinate over the edge of the tray onto the mat. She enters a huge box, lifts her cock and lets a stream of urine flow over the edge of the box onto the mat. I thought I was being careful enough but today when I picked up the box and rug I saw that unbeknownst to me urine had actually seeped through the rug and now the floor underneath was discolored. I thought I cleaned and dried the mat fairly scrupulously, but apparently I didn't realize damage was happening. Note, however, that this mat is not as urine impermeable as it may seem. If your cat pees outside the box like mine, simply dabbing, scrubbing and drying the mat will not protect her from damage and loss of resistance. This rug worked well for the first few months, but now it's clearly not the right floor protection. My cat hasn't had a crate in weeks and although I cleaned her at least daily and every time I saw her I just threw the mat away; it is no longer waterproof. Original review: Huge carpet! I have pink, which to be honest is not very pretty. But it absolutely protects the surface it stands on and catches the dirt my cat happily scatters. Easy to shake out and clean. Convenient purchase!
