I have to admit I was very skeptical about using this shape or any other, but it worked great and made a great DIY Christmas gift. This is enough to make a cut on one side. I've found that a very light brushing with olive or coconut oil helps with easy removal (I'm sure others work well, or maybe even a small amount of liquid detergent) and also helps preserve some of the intricate detail. Some hair ties stolen from my daughter (and easily replaced at Family Dollar) were just enough to hold the mold for pouring and fixing the wax in place. You also need to drill a hole for the wick; Tweezers or tongs easily guide the wick. This was the first foray into candlelight entertainment; and it was perfect for some unfiltered, lemongrass-scented beeswax.
