After learning of the problems with the stock Ford oil pump, we replaced the oil pump on our 2006 5.4 F150 with a Melling M340HV while we were doing a valve train overhaul. Very satisfied. Tip: Lubricate the pump with petroleum jelly before installing. Prior to installation we lubricated the engine liberally with clean engine oil, but simply cranking the crankshaft was unable to build up oil pressure prior to lubrication. The oil pressure has risen successfully at startup.
