Just in time. Comes with everything you need. There is a good printed installation guide to 1) install the driver for the scanner 2) install the face recognition software. I scanned my photos into a folder on my computer, my photos. The images look sharp/warm - I haven't adjusted the color or dpi. I then used the Tag That Photo software to view the photos in my saved folder and name the faces. It's very nice to see the software starting to work and I confirm all the faces and names. Now I can view and use my photos by people, even if they were small children. This whole process took a while, but now I can create a slideshow of each family member in about a minute. Note: the flatbed scanner has a setting to scan more than one photo at a time, which is very helpful for me as my photos are old and some are a bit sticky and won't go through the document feeder.
