I built my Pi into my camper as the heart of my audio and network hub. Required 5 VDC with no AC input. The buck converter provides more than enough power to keep it running when the power goes out. It would get 5 stars except that switching pumps a bit of noise into the audio system. It's not enough to tease me unless silence is required. I've been using the Pi on its own AC power supply and haven't gotten any noise, so the problem is definitely with the buck converter. For the price I can handle it. 3A is more than enough to keep the Pi running and provide enough extra power to keep my iPhone 5s charged. I haven't tried to overpower it with anything more sophisticated, but I'm VERY happy with my purchase.
