Review on πŸ–₯️ Black Active Cooling Media Center PC Case with Fan for Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, Libre Computer Board, ASUS Tinker Board by Scott Schram

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Suitable for Libre AML-S905X-CC and Pi. Not very suitable for C2. The fan is noisy.

Works well for Libre Le Potato and fits ODroid C2. Le Potato has the same layout as the RPi boards so it fits perfectly. The front cover leaves the IR sensor usable and dims the LEDs just enough to be visible but not distracting. If only Potato could run LibreElec without freezing all the time. So I went back to my C2 and wouldn't agree that this case can be called compatible. The C2's SD card is on the side that goes into the corner of the case and you cannot attach the C2 to the bottom of this case without damaging the SD card. If you have used all the screws, you can easily damage the SD card. If you're using eMMC, this probably isn't a problem. The fan is pretty quiet at 3.3V but very loud at 5V. Maybe the people who say it's pretty "high" aren't putting the full 5V in, or maybe I just have a crappy one Fan. I can hear it easily across the room, and while it blends in with the background noise when the TV is on, it's definitely still there. At low RPM the fan caused a drop of about 10-15Β°F and at high RPM about 20-30Β°F. I don't really see a need to run it high, but if I did I'd like to connect it to a switch to leave it low most of the time. Opening the case to swap out is unrealistic, and the high volume is too loud for continuous use.

  • Don't waste too much time
