Not as strong and sturdy as the original hose and handle. The hose is thin clear plastic and I expect it to last about a year compared to 7 years for the old hose. The vacuum is used daily and I actually salvaged the old hose so that if it breaks down, which it does, I can put it back on the vacuum. I wish I could just fix the old hose (I did) and keep it and if it doesn't work again just buy a new vacuum. We love the Shark and it has served us well with cleaning and/or replacing the filter every two months or so and a new shock belt fitted a few years ago. So I guess we don't owe the vacuum anything. It's a pity that the Shark didn't provide a replacement until the very end. Updated July 2018. As I suspected it was down for 6 months and now it's a piece of junk. The hose broke in the middle, where it practically does not wear out. Additionally, Shark sells them on their website for $25 plus $6.95 shipping, so buying here is doubly a waste of money. Overpriced and a piece of junk to boot. The original hose lasted 5 years. I also think these are copies and not the original hoses advertised.
