I installed them under cabinets where there was no light and they work as expected. Motion detection is 80% effective in most cases. It depends on the device. After stopping the movement, the time during which it remains on is very short - 20 seconds. I wish there was a setting like cameras do where you can choose 1 minute, 5 minutes or 10 minutes for how long it stays on after the last motion is detected. Sometimes I'm there and don't move (like waiting for coffee) and the light goes out and it's just annoying to wave my hand to turn it back on. Also, they are VERY bright and very useful. I also put it in a closet in the hallway where there were no lights or outlets. It is installed on the side of the wall so that it turns on when the door is opened. Lasts barely 1 hour before reloading.
