The product is rough around the edges, though it does work as advertised. The ladle is made with some sort of particularly hefty plastic, and on functionality (and float-ability) alone, it's a considerable improvement over my dollar store ladle of years gone by.Unfortunately, it is literally rough around the edges. The seam is pronounced, a bit jagged, and had little tags of plastic coming off it. To correct this, I sanded it down, which got rid of the textured finish. I ended up sanding the whole thing down to make it a very dark gray, smooth, tortoiseshell-like pattern, while leaving the interior of the bowl alone; it had no imperfections.Some extra work was required to make this a gift-worthy item, but it is one now.
