Stackable Playhouse Bricks

One of the reasons we love Petit Collage toys is that many of them are self-sufficient. This stackable building block playset is no different: the sturdy outer box has a magnetic lid for tidy storage, but doubles as the main hideout house on which to stack the remaining four building blocks. When all the blocks are placed on it, the tower's height is about 31 inches. Cut-outs and wooden figures take the old-fashioned toy to the next level - now it's transformed into a creative playhouse. Our 2 year old likes to play with it like a toy set and playhouse and keeps it busy for a long time. However, I'm not sure if this is the most popular toy among the kids playing here. We have another one (made by Janod) that has numbers and pictures on ten simple squares. Kids spend as much time stacking them (up to 36 inches tall) as they do stacking boxes, and they enjoy counting boxes as they complete each activity. They're cardboard too - even after a year of abuse, the boxes still look good. If both storage toys are taken out at the same time, only the two-year-old will play with them. She likes to put figurines in boxes with small holes and pretend to play. Her 3 year old twin cousins (boys) have little interest in the play aspect of this toy and the smaller number of blocks, but they still love stacking, stacking and knocking over the larger, simpler Janod blocks. I don't mention this because one toy is better than the other - both are fun and durable - but it's important to know what type of stackable toy works best for your child.
