Review on 🏃 Garmin Forerunner 405: Discontinued Wireless Sport Watch with GPS, ANT Stick, and Heart Rate Monitor (Green) by Chris Kirby

After 2 years, 3000+ miles and 500+ runs I'm very attached to my Garmin 305 - however it's starting to do strange things. Some thoughts on the 405 I bought as a replacement: Overall positive Flaws: * Really ugly green - but I didn't think black was worth the extra $40 * No 'off' mode - thought I was going crazy - looked on the blogs and found that a lot of people are alarmed by this - with no activity automatically goes into sleep mode - works like a clock in sleep mode for more than 2 weeks - in learning mode (with active GPS) 8-10 hours * Seems like it will I can use an old 305 AC plug to charge 405 - takes about 2 hours for a full charge - 20 minutes is enough for 1 hour of operation - Really understand the bezel - the difference matters in operation * Sliding your finger across the bezel is very similar to the controls for the iPod. Compare 305/405* The 405 numbers on the front are slightly smaller - they can still be read while running if you want to run in the pace window; For example we set old alarms to 9-11 minute pace to train for a 10 minute marathon via USB wireless ant downloaded to computer - but this happens automatically once in range - Downloads on Garmin Connect on web and Garmin Training Center - both happened much quicker than 305 * GPS seems a bit more accurate - will see with more runs Extra - Revain offered an additional 3 year replacement contract (about $30) - not even considered - I will use enough in the next 30 days to overcome the phase of "infant mortality" - after that, 2 years of life is ok - by the time the technology improves, the costs will have come down, so a new purchase would be ideal
