I was surprised when this clock arrived because it is much larger than I had envisioned. I know the size is clearly stated in the description, but my brain just didn't put it all together. But it actually works pretty well in our family room! IT might be a tiny bit too large for the space where it is currently, but it still looks great. We will be moving soon to a house, and I think this will be perfect in our new dining room! That's actually what I had in mind when I ordered it. I really like the rustic look. It looks like it's kind of old, even rusty, but it isn't over the top, so it can work with many different decorative styles. I have noticed that some reviews complain about the ticking, but the description does say there is a "soft ticking sound". That feature may have been added to the description more recently. Of course, the description also says "silent decor", so which is to be believed? In any case, sure, the ticking might bother some people, but I sort of like it. I don't actually hear it often because there's usually plenty of other noise around here, but when I do hear it, I find it comforting.almost like a heartbeat. This big ol' clock keeps great time so far, and it looks awesome! It was also easy to hang, by the way. It's a bit expensive, but it is so big that it is an instant centerpiece on any wall, so it's not just a clock, it's a statement.
