I'm adding my review after reading too many uninformed people complaining that this system doesn't lower TDS (Total Dissolved Solids). If you want to remove dissolved solids, you need to run a reverse osmosis system. Therefore: Monitoring the TDS level makes the most sense if you have a reverse osmosis system. Reverse Osmosis is designed to remove everything from water, including Natural Minerals (TDS). With a reverse osmosis system you would expect very low TDS (<50ppm). If you have an ultrafiltration system, one of the benefits of this type of filtration is that beneficial minerals are retained in your water. As a result, your water will have healthy TDS levels. Many people switch from a reverse osmosis system to an ultrafiltration system and panic when the TDS isn't close to zero or close to the TDS provided by their reverse osmosis system. A reverse osmosis system must remove everything, including minerals; Ultrafiltration preserves beneficial minerals. As far as this particular system goes, I think it does a pretty good job of enhancing the flavor. I really wish the filters were still around $80 a year and no closer to $100, but I'm glad they're still readily available.
