Review on 🎨 White Nights Watercolour Night Artists Set: 36 Whole Pans in Plastic Box, 1/2700 - Ideal for Nighttime Artistry by Richard Cheng

crushing disappointment

I've heard so much about how excellent they were, artistic quality and professionalism and I'm here to tell you (as a professional artist) that's not true. I was dying to try these vaunted colors. They may have been of better quality in years past but the paints in the set of 36 I bought were made in 2020 and these paints are student quality at best. Some colors, like yellow ocher and raw ochre, are so pale they cannot even be compared to Cotman's student colors. Seriously, how don't they use enough pigment in these colors when they're as cheap as ocher and sienna? The azure color is so faint that color can hardly be reproduced on paper; Cobalt blue is also faint, with barely perceptible traces of graininess. Both are killed in mixtures. I wish they would just use a tint if they don't want to add enough pigment! None of these colors wet easily and don't give a rich color like it should. Given the hype, this was a crushing and expensive disappointment. There are other options at Revain that are a lot more worth your money. Check out my other reviews if you're looking for a good strong watercolor that won't break the bank. avoid them.
