My wife likes these and keeps them on her bedside table. I only took them out to play. The remote control doesn't work 100% of the time, but that's quite enough. I found that you don't need a remote control to turn them on and off. When I placed them on the glass table top, they turned themselves off. When I turned them back on, they turned on. This was done with the switch on the bottom flipped to the ON position. I'm not sure if they do or if it's just a coincidence. This comes in handy when you can't find the remote control. Just touch them to the table and they turn on, off and back. In general, she is very happy with it and glad that I have it.
