I got this for genuine leather which is not polished or buffed like plastic but has a slightly rough finish which I think is just an indication of natural confidence. The seams look strong, there are no protruding threads. The buckle is a simple classic single tooth. They recommend a size two inches larger than the pants I was missing. I could see there would be more stretch behind the buckle but I'm happy with the same length as my pant size.
