I've tried all sorts of car mounts for my cell phone. I don't usually like air vent clips because they feel unstable and the ones that come with the phone clip are bulky. This one is completely different. And better. First, the magnets are very strong, strong enough to hold my iPhone 7+. It doesn't move at all when I drive. The clamp also seems to be very secure on my vent. I drive a 2017 Mazda3 and it is on the center vent closest to the driver. In this position, it's almost at eye level (if it were higher the whole world would see it, and I hate that), it's on the same sideline as the car's screen, and I can touch and swipe it easily (and without moving around) The metal plates that you attach to your phone are really very thin and don't add any weight or bulk to your phone. I put a non-stick coating (number three yogurt) between my very thin case and the phone and it works great there. Because the magnet is so secure, it's better to slide the phone out of the holder than to pull it. When I take it off, the mount comes all the way out of the vent.
