Fits mindware sets - my new review

While all of the kids (ages 4 through 7 when including cousins) enjoy marble mazes, it is my youngest who loves them the most. We already had two Mindware marble run sets, and I was hoping this one would fit so we could build even more elaborate creations. It does, and we can. The plastic used in this set might be slightly thinner (see picture) than the mindware, but that isn't an issue unless your child is very rough with the set. This set has three styles of pieces/tracks we didn't have before: four spiral tracks, two mesh starting baskets, and two raised collection trays. My son loves the spirals, but if smaller marbles (if you use ones that don't come with the set) may slip through the sides of the track. The light-up marbles are a hit with both my children (ages 5 and 7), and they have been playing with them beyond the marble maze- putting them in the mouths of other toys and such. I don't know how long these light-up marbles will last as it doesn't look like you can replace the batteries, but for now, they are a hit, and the maze is worth the cost even without these marbles.

Pros
  • 3 years and up
Cons
  • May be too expensive for some families, especially if multiple sets are required for a larger group of children
