The extra large size is perfect for a working mom/ college student or if you just have a lot of things. Between the large and extra large, I would go with the extra large and get more use out of it. As it would be great for traveling. I was afraid it would look comical wearing it but once I got it, I really don't think it looks too oversized and doesn't look out of proportion. I would say it's the size of a large canvas tote bag but more of a sleek purse style. I wish it had a pocket on the front for easy access to car keys or my phone. Because the tote is new it seems like it takes time to break in the leather handles which right now are a little stiff and have a mind of their own. The bottom seems like it will hold its shape and not bow too much even holding a lot of items. The lining is not sewn into the bottom of the bag but doesn't seem like it would be an issue. All of the seam work looks good. The outside is a very durable nylon, semi-self standing material but will flop to one side if it doesn't have anything in it. This size would need an organizer for everyday use.
