I always try to use the same yarn as the pattern I want to crochet. I was planning to knit a baby blanket for my new granddaughter in early January. I bought some extra yarn for a bit of practice and plan to finish the baby shower blanket by the end of November. The yarn has a beautiful pastel pink color and is very soft. I'm having a grandson soon so I ordered a Patons Baby Gray Spirit for my quilt. I order them at the same time but the pink and white Patons came first (different sellers) so I started with them. After just one sub-row, the yarn kept separating the strands no matter how I held the needle or how I held the yarn. The pattern is very simple and uses only single and double crochet stitches, so it's not complicated. The further I progressed, the more trouble I had in separating the strands of yarn. It takes extra time to get the threads together and when you have to do this all the time it gets frustrating. I don't have a yarn winder, so roll the yarn into balls; I should have expected some difficulties as it took me 3 hours to make a very decent sphere from the first 3.5 ounces (100 grams). Center Vomit is too boring a name for a yarn as I was trying to find the inner skein to carefully pull the yarn out of the skein. I have been very careful not to rush through this Beehive children's sports yarn so as not to damage this fine yarn. On the 5th row of the scheme, I knew that I did not plan to knit another blanket from this yarn. As the gray Patons Beehive Baby Sport has not shipped I have canceled this order. I will end this project as I am not a quitter but I will not buy this brand again. I will pay more for better thread for my grandson's quilt and not sure if the current project will end up as a gift. I know it wasn't an expensive yarn but since the designer recommended this brand I expected a better result.
