First thing’s first - these shorts run small. I’m usually a size 4 in women’s and when I wear leggings they’re small size. I read the reviews saying to size up and they were right. I got a Large and they fit fine.Second - I started surfing recently and wanted a pair of board shorts to wear over my bikini bottoms. I will say that the drawstring holds well and I never lost the shorts. If you surf on a foam board, these shorts will NOT act as a rash guard. I’ve tried them twice now and got a rash on my upper thigh from gripping the board and turning in the lineup. These shorts would probably be good for regular swimming, but not for surfing with a foam board.
