My granddaughter put her hand in the ice crushing area to see if all the ice was crushed or if there was any left and suffered a nasty cut on her finger which stopped the bleeding in over 10 minutes. However, she loves this crazy thing. Her friend had one too and they liked it so she asked for it. What the hell? It only makes 1-2 tablespoons of slush at a time and we didn't put any flavor syrup in the side compartments, they looked like a nightmare to clean. And the ice needs to be partially crushed to make it work well - we used ice from an ice crusher in the fridge. At age 9, she had no problem handling the mechanics and crushing half-crushed ice. your fingers in. I'd say zero stars but she loves to make - 1 tablespoon of slush - so if she doesn't break I'll have to give her a few stars. (I'll update this if she only plays with it for a few days.) I'd still argue that there are safer icebreakers that accept whole ice cubes and have larger cups. I have contacted the manufacturer. Will also update if I get a reply from them.
