These headphones have a 3-pin 1/8" ground connection (left speaker, right speaker and center common). Most headphones currently on the market have a 4-pin jack (right speaker, left speaker, microphone input and common ground). I run my video boxes and DVD players through the receiver. Most audio receivers have a 3-pin headphone jack. Plugging 4-pin headphones into this 3-pin jack does not work. Beyond use most receivers have a 1/4" headphone jack. I've tried using these 1/8 to 1/4 adapters and they still have the same problem, a 4 pin plug goes into a 3 pin plug. Sometimes you can get it to work by pulling the 4-way connector out a bit, but it wants to snap all the way in. (annoying) Conclusion: These headphones connect without any problems. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the foam could be a little softer in the middle where your ears rest. It's a little stiff and the ear pocket formed by the outer padding is a little flat. These aren't deal killers. It would be ideal if they made some significant changes. sound quality. They're not audiophile quality (hence the price), but they fit my DVD movies and Playstation with ease. Overall I am very happy with them and would buy them again.
