Review on D3S D3R OEM Headlight Conversion Kit by Matthew Thorndike

First, the cardboard packaging was shrink-wrapped, which was unexpected but definitely set the bar for quality assurance. I was amazed to see this. The bulbs were 1:1 sized and were a ring illusion of my original D3S HID bulb that I removed from my 2018 Jeep Compass. In comparison, the bulb in my limited compass was a Philips D3S HID. While I knew when I bought my car that HID bulbs were steadily losing ground to their LED counterparts, I got this car because of the amount of technology available in this class. However, I couldn't avoid the factory-installed HID bulb. So it was clear to me from the start that I would be looking for a replacement. I was initially hoping to find a Hikari D3S bulb to replace, but Hikari didn't have the lamp base I needed for my upgrade. I consulted The Retrofit Source and they recommended something similar to this bulb, albeit more expensive. In terms of price, it's an absolute hit. Installation: Installation wasn't easy, but that's due to the tight access points available for my 2018 Jeep Compass Limited. Although installation is not easy, I recommend using pliers for better leverage when trying to lock the lamp in place. Helped me confirm a secure fit and also helped me match the color of the bulb: I wasn't initially happy with the 6000K color temperature as they didn't exactly match the Hikari LED fog lights I installed. Regardless, they still appear bright white and it's impossible to notice any difference in color temperature when driving down the road, so overall I'm really impressed. Beam Diagram: I would say that not only are these bulbs brighter, but they can throw a wider beam. Most impressively, you can even see the beam in daylight - somewhat. This used to be possible with my HID bulbs. Durability: Could not be determined. Installation 09/23/2020This is definitely a device that offers a great price and user experience. It works seamlessly with my canbus system and I don't get any errors.
