I thought this was the perfect rug as it is longer than most. It's designed to catch the extra dirt and dust left on your kitten's paws after they've taken themselves out of the box. The rug does what it says on the tin, but because of the materials it's made of, it sticks to dirt like a magnet (except for dust particles, which end up on the floor anyway). This causes a problem as the mat is held so tightly to the filling that it will not come off even if you try to take it outside and shake the pieces of filling left on the mat. The material is like hundreds of rubber bands that are twisted, shaped, and formed into a mat. It looks very cool but causes more problems than getting rid of junk. which should make cleaning easier, but unfortunately it is not. Foam mats with a small speed bump that goes over the mat (which are also made of foam) are MUCH easier to use. They catch excess dirt, but it doesn't stick to the mat like a magnet, so tossing trailing dirt in a garbage bag or tossing it outside is a breeze. But with this type of mat I bought above, there's no way to get all the tracking dirt unless you want it every time you clean the mat (which doesn't have to be daily, but after needed), spray outside from the hose It was a good idea but this rug has really changed my expectations which unfortunately I have to say I don't like leaving negative reviews but this rug just isn't for me and if you have multiple cats it's even worse! But to each his own. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone and wish I could return it. I'm going back to foam (rubber) mats. Yes, they wear out about every 2-3 years, but they are not expensive and much nicer to clean and they catch dirt as well as this one magnetic elastic band mat with less headache.
