I am very satisfied with the steam outlet. I was concerned that the steam from the Instant Pot would damage and stain my cabinets and ceiling, but this tool allows me to direct the steam where I want. I still cover it with a damp cotton cloth, which absorbs most of the steam. It slides right over the valve at the top of the pot. To clean, I just throw it in the cutlery basket of the dishwasher.
