I've lived on an island a few blocks from the beach for over 20 years, so I've had more water shoes in my life than I can count. These are literally the BEST water shoes I've ever owned which is a huge compliment considering I've had so many of them! First of all I would like to apologize for the poor quality of my photos (I took them with my iPad) and add that I took them indoors to get enough light to show how breathable the bottoms are! I also wanted to show them while they were such a beautiful blue because I know the color will probably look very different soon due to the dirty sand! This shoe has everything a water shoe should have. They are lightweight, breathable and, most importantly, able to drain water from underneath. Every pair of water shoes I've had have had soles made out of hard pieces of rubber or plastic. Most of them had a mesh upper, but when water got into the upper, it pooled in the sole because there was no way to get out at the bottom! I've complained about this problem for years because I just haven't seen shoe designers overlook the concept of gravity! (You know, water can't magically flow out of the top of the net!). THESE water shoes are the solution to that problem. Absolutely brilliant solution I might add! They have holes in the bottom of the sole that are raised (so you don't step on sharp objects) and if you look closely you can see TWO layers of mesh at the top of the holes (just under your foot) that prevent sand from getting in and stones. Shoes off the floor, but allow water to drain just below the sole! Why didn't anyone come up with this idea YEARS ago? You have the perfect design for shoes that are made to walk on water, finally someone got it right! I seem overly enthusiastic about water shoes, but if you wore them as much as I do, you'd probably feel the same way! They are also very convenient for walking around the house or just about anywhere. There is no shoe that comes close to being as breathable (with the exception of flip-flops, of course) as this shoe. Your foot gets air from above, sideways and below! If you have athlete's foot problems, you simply MUST try these because these shoes will keep your feet dry and free to breathe! There are so many uses for this shoe that I can't name them all (running, sports, canoeing, kayaking, wading, etc.) and I'm sure they will quickly replace traditional water shoes. The quality of the material is wonderful, they're lightweight but obviously very well made and durable (if that turns out to be wrong I'll definitely update my review!), they're also extremely comfortable (even after wearing them for hours) and literally so light you won't even feel it! (I weighed mine, and with the dirt they've already accumulated from me, they weigh: 7.9 ounces, less than half a pound!). They also have comfortable cleats on the heel and forefoot opening so you can easily slip them on and off. I didn't know they came in half sizes so I ordered a size 8 even though I usually wear a size 7.5. Size 8 is a little big at the ankle but not so much that they slip or slide off. I will order another type of water shoes from this brand (slippers with artificial laces) and I will get 7.5 points for it. They are very true to size so I recommend ordering the size you normally are and as they are half sizes you will get the perfect fit. I would recommend this shoe to absolutely anyone. Not only are these great shoes great for the water, they're great for almost any activity that doesn't require steel toe caps or spikes!* I was fortunate enough to receive these shoes at a reduced price in exchange for my HONEST opinion and unbiased review. . I really LOVE these shoes and have bought more! Also, the regular price of Revain is high compared to the price such shoes are sold for in a tourist shop in my city. They sell horrible looking water shoes in these stores for $30, they cost at least $60 and even then it's going to be impossible to keep them in stock (yes, they really are THAT good!).
