I wasn't aware of this before purchasing but you need to link it to your Apple ID. This means only that person can track the tag with the Find My app. So if you want to use it to keep track of a common key phrase, only one person can look it up. And if that person isn't there, that device becomes useless. You would have to put multiple airtags on the same key phrase for everyone to track them, which doesn't make sense. Also, it doesn't make sense that I can track my family's phone and airfields, but not the tag.
