A water filter is essential in any home where a well is the only source of water. These filters capture "crispy" iron sulfides, sediment, and other particles that enter the water supply. I'm very impressed with how this brand traps iron compounds. Within a few weeks the external filter will turn orange as it retains dissolved iron and prevents it from entering the internal water supply. As a result, the water smells fresher and the water pressure does not drop noticeably. I change these filters out every 2 months due to the noticeable residue left in the plastic cap.
