I bought this product hoping to replace my previous standard non-acetone nail polish remover. Here is my review broken down into sections: Packaging: When it arrived I was delighted. When I saw that I paid $13 for this small bottle, I expected a full bottle of solution. This was not the case (and this is the reason for my less than perfect rating). As seen in the picture uploaded, the bottle is missing about 2cm from the top of the bottle (or the purple label for better understanding, not what is shown in the picture). Based on the amount I typically use, this could be anywhere from 2-3 full nail removals. I am very dissatisfied with it. Performance: As soon as I got it, I decided to test it right away. I've recently switched to butter nail polish (free from formaldehyde and all carcinogens) and for a long lasting manicure you need a base coat + 2 color coats + a top coat. I applied it to one nail and two standard coats of Essi nail polish + top coat (don't use a base coat here, I have a homemade nail booster that I use before applying) on the other. I let them dry for 15 minutes and then started using the lavender remover. There was no unpleasant smell, only the smell of lavender was the only thing I could smell. The polish came off very quickly, it took no more than 5 seconds to rub into each nail. I didn't test all ten nails but based on the results I've seen I believe a quick wipe, wait 10 seconds and then rub in a circular motion to remove works well and only requires a partially soaked cotton swab. It's a bit oily but I washed my hands well after use to remove the excess. Ingredients: Since I'm very careful about what I put on my body or skin, I've decided to break down the ingredients. It's a synthetic compound, but that doesn't mean it's bad - methyl extract from soybean oil - used in cosmetics or to clean cars and asphalt; meets air purity standards (i.e. non-toxic by inhalation); non-toxic, on a biological basis. There has been a possibility of a link between soybeans and breast cancer in studies, but since it is a diluted amount and is used for nails (low absorption into the body) I don't think this is a concern. - Tocopheryl Acetate - time-tested vitamin E, which is excellent for softening the skin and cuticles, and when it penetrates the skin (which it easily can), 5% becomes free tocopherol and has a beneficial antioxidant effect ([.] ); Helps protect against UV rays when absorbed. On (minor) concerns: it's a skin toxin or allergen (but generally minor effects); Animal studies have shown tumor formation at high doses; an unspecified environmental toxin (known as environmental toxin but with unknown effect). It is essentially a modified form of vitamin E, designed to increase shelf life but is therefore degraded in quality and potentially toxic. 100% super natural/organic/non-toxic when it comes to something like nail polish); the effect is good; Packaging should be more strictly regulated.
