This is a fantastic set for the price. I'm not sure I'll ever use some of them, but there are still plenty. The cake in this photo uses the largest diamond pattern. It would be nice to have a little flexibility in the imprinter as the curves (especially the concavities) are tricky with silicone for example. It's hard plastic. However, the price for it may not be that good. I know a lot of people do the embossing before putting the fondant on the cake, but they're obviously more experienced than me because this technique becomes a tedious mess for me. ! I take impressions after coating. After a bit of experimentation, I found that it's easier to use the embosser on the flatter areas and then use the ruler's edge to extend individual lines. If you look closely you can see that the diamonds aren't even due to the curves, but I don't think anyone will notice and this won't be a problem with round or rectangular cakes. all with a ruler edge (to deepen the lines) and a quilting tool (only needed if you want stitches). I used the star tool to add fullness to the intersections. Using a slightly darker shade of dust to accentuate the lines and add depth also goes a long way, but of course it's not necessary if you're short on time.
