Well, let me say right away that I'm not a very tech-savvy person. I'm not a complete idiot or anything, but the ins and outs of the latest and greatest technologies (HOW they work, I mean) are beyond me. I have an old Sony flat screen model. When I say "older" I mean "older", I believe it's from 2007, which is pretty much old fashioned in the TV world these days. This is the oldest TV in the house but it still works and is quite large so I didn't bother to replace it. Problem? It's older, so firstly it didn't have many HDMI ports and secondly only one of those ports works anymore. A few years ago my stepdad (much more tech savvy than me) got me an HDMI switch to save me the hassle of scrambling cables and switching back and forth when I wanted to switch between cable and Apple TV. It did not work. I bought another one to replace the one he bought. This also didn't work. I've tried several times (and for the record, I installed it properly and even tried new HDMI cables etc) to no avail. I don't know if the problem was due to the poor quality of the other switches (they were cheaper, but that's partly because there were only two models of switches, which was all I needed) or the older technology in mine TVs (seriously, the one of the TVs is so old it only plays Murder She Wrote! LOL!) Fast forward to buying this switch after reading the reviews for the sheer number of options. VOILA! Instant success! I bought it at the end of November 2019 and have been waiting until now (three months later) to leave a review just to make sure it works. So far so good ADVANTAGES: 1. Easy to install. If I can do it, your grandmother can do it. It took less than five minutes and came with the added inconvenience of having my TV in an awkward location. 2. REMOTE CONTROL! I wasn't originally planning on ordering with a remote control, but I'm SO glad I did! It's definitely worth it! 3. Additional connections. It has more than I need, but now I can add a component if I decide to later! CONS: 1. Looks a bit cheap/poorly made. When I opened the box the way it looked/looked didn't inspire confidence. Especially the remote control, which doesn't look well made at all. It doesn't look great with my other remotes either, but that's a VERY picky complaint. 2nd prize. The price seems a little high for what you get, especially when you see how it looks (again, it's basically a remote control). OVERALL: Easy to install, works well and makes it easy to switch between components!
