Review on ๐Ÿฑ Dasior Cat Recovery Collar: Soft Cute Neck Cone for post-surgery, Adjustable Pet Protection E-Collar for Kittens & Puppies by Carmen Martinez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Cute but a little too small for back wounds, the clip on the collar slips off.

I was very happy to receive this just in time to replace the hard plastic cone my kitty recently received from surgery. It's cute, it fits. My cat is not used to collars so she had a lot of trouble taking them off. Unfortunately the avocado was too small and I had to resort to hard plastic collars. Many soft cones can wrinkle, so they are not recommended. My cat is medium to large, about 11 pounds. There are TWO major problems with the avocado collar: ONE - it's too small. If your cat has a wound or bites within 3 inches of your cat's back, she can get to the wound and start licking. My cat's stitches were at the base of her tail and went slightly inward towards the body area. about an inch and a half. After watching her, I caught her licking the seams with avocados. If the collar was about 2 inches wider in circumference she wouldn't have been able to reach it so it's too small and the wound reinfected so she had to re-stitch. TWO - The plastic clip holding the cord around the neck is not tight enough. A few hard smacks and he starts to slip and the collar is loose enough to be ejected. I was able to get around this by adjusting the plastic clip where it felt tight enough and then tying a detachable knot with the extra cord so the plastic clip couldn't move or slide down to loosen. Otherwise, the thickness is good and durable. and will likely work on injuries that are deeper in and farther from the cat's back. The non-tapered shape makes it easier to eat and drink and feels more comfortable as it is less bulky. Too bad it didn't work on my kitten, 10 days of wearing the cone and the strands can come out. Surprisingly, she's pretty used to it. Food and water bowls at the bottom prevent the rim of the cone from tipping over. Kittens usually understand when they put their snout directly over bowls that allow them to eat and drink. Much luck.
