I can vouch for both this and the cheaper fabric designer strainer (white). They both strain half a gallon of yogurt, leaving a fairly clear whey. Yoghurt is easy to get - put it on the lid as other reviewers (and instructions) have indicated. Be careful when washing the screen and you shouldn't have any problems. I think the fabric worked a little better (same brand). I gave mine away when I thought I would stop making yogurt.
