The guard was fairly easy to install and get the right length across my apartment balcony railing. Unfortunately, the guard is a bit shorter than advertised so I had a couple inches of extra space at the bottom where I needed the guard. Since I have a rental, I could not screw the guard to a wall or anchor points so I had to depend on the zip ties alone which was ok, but did not make the guard as tight as it could have been. This product is probably better for multi-rail set ups as opposed to a single rail that goes wall-to-wall (animal could escape pushing through an edge).The guard fared well in the weather this past summer and was a first line of defense when a certain clumsy kitten tried to toddle past the railing to look over the edge. Glad I had this up during the first year of kittenhood!
